Clarity Support
We’re here to help. Most questions are answered below — if not, email us and a person will reply.
Getting started
Why does Clarity download about 800 MB before the first use?
Clarity understands speech on your iPhone instead of sending audio to a server. That needs two speech models (one for words, one for who is speaking). They download once — use Wi-Fi if you can — and then captions work without the internet. After that, Clarity also downloads its summary model (about 530 MB) in the background, so key points are ready when you want them. You can start captioning without waiting for it.
The first Start shows “Preparing…” for a while.
The first time, your iPhone optimizes the speech models for its chip. This can take up to a minute. After that, Start is quick.
The download failed or says a secure connection couldn’t be made.
Some networks (workplaces, hotels, public Wi-Fi) block or intercept downloads. Try another Wi-Fi network or mobile data, turn off any VPN or content filter, and make sure Settings → General → Date & Time → Set Automatically is on. Then tap Download again — it continues where it left off.
How do I send feedback or report a problem?
In Clarity, open Settings → Help & legal → Send feedback. It opens an email to us with your app version and iPhone model filled in. Your conversations are never attached. You can also email admin@artmento.org directly.
Subscription
How much does Clarity cost?
Setup and the tutorial are free. To use Clarity after that you need a monthly or yearly Clarity subscription. New subscribers get a free trial. The current prices in your currency are shown in the app before you subscribe. You can cancel anytime.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
In Clarity, open Settings → Subscription → Manage. Or on your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Clarity. Cancel at least 24 hours before your trial or current period ends to avoid the next charge.
I got a new iPhone or reinstalled Clarity.
Sign in with the same Apple Account, open Clarity and tap Restore purchases on the plans screen (or Settings → Subscription). No Clarity account is needed.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are made through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple: visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
Live captions
Clarity says microphone access is off.
Open the iPhone Settings app → Clarity → turn on Microphone. Then return to Clarity and press Start.
How do I get better captions?
Place your iPhone between the speakers, close to whoever is hardest to hear, and away from music or TV. Clarity works best with one to four people speaking in turn.
How do I change “Speaker 1” to a name?
Tap the speaker’s name above any line, or tap Speakers. Pick “Me”, a frequent chat partner, or type a name. All lines update immediately. Add frequent chat partners in Settings.
The text is too small, or appears too fast.
Use A− / A+ to change text size and Slower / Faster to change how quickly words appear. Both are also in Settings, with a preview.
Which languages are supported?
Live captions currently support English. More languages are coming.
Saved conversations and summaries
Where are my conversations saved?
Only on your iPhone, in the Saved tab. They are included in your iPhone’s own backup if backups are on. We never receive them. See the Privacy Policy.
Does Clarity collect any data?
Only anonymous install statistics: that Clarity was installed and opened, with your device type, iOS and app version, and approximate country (Google Analytics for Firebase). Never audio, captions, conversations or names, and no advertising IDs. Turn it off in Clarity → Settings → Share install statistics. Details in the Privacy Policy.
How do I get a summary?
Open a conversation in Saved and tap Summarize. Clarity downloads its summary model (about 530 MB) during setup. If it isn’t on your iPhone yet (for example, if you removed it in Settings), Clarity downloads it the first time you tap Summarize. Key points are written on your iPhone. They are AI-generated and may contain mistakes, so check important details in the full transcript.
How do I free up space?
In Settings, remove the speech models or the summary model. You can download them again any time. Deleting conversations also frees a little space (text takes very little).
