Who we are

Clarity is made by Solaris Wave LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Clarity app for iPhone. See also our Terms of Use, AI Transparency and Your Data & Deletion pages. Questions: admin@artmento.org.

Microphone and audio

• Clarity uses your iPhone’s microphone only while you are captioning (after you press Start, until you press Stop).
• Audio is processed in your iPhone’s memory to create captions and is then discarded. Clarity never saves audio recordings and never sends audio off your device.
• Speech recognition and speaker detection run on your iPhone using on-device AI models.

Saved conversations (transcripts)

• When you press Stop, the text of the conversation, speaker names you chose, and times are saved in Clarity’s private storage on your iPhone. You can turn off automatic saving in Settings.
• We never receive your transcripts. They are not uploaded to us or to any server we control.
• Like other app data, saved conversations are included in your iPhone’s own backup (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) if you have backups turned on. Those backups are managed by Apple and by you under your Apple account settings; we cannot access them.
• Transcripts leave your iPhone only if you choose to share them, for example with the Share button.

Summaries (key points)

• If you ask for a summary, it is written on your iPhone by an on-device AI model. The conversation text is not sent anywhere to create it.
• Summaries are produced by AI and may contain mistakes. Always check important details against the full transcript.

Model downloads

To work without the internet, Clarity downloads its AI models once: the speech models (about 800 MB) and the summary model (about 530 MB). The summary model downloads in the background during first-time setup, or the first time you ask for a summary if it isn’t on your iPhone yet. These files are downloaded from our own storage, hosted by Cloudflare. As with any download, the hosting provider receives standard technical information needed to deliver the file, such as your IP address and the time of the request. No audio, transcripts or personal content are included in these requests. Model files are not included in your iCloud backup and can be removed in Clarity’s Settings.

Install statistics (Firebase Analytics)

To understand how many people install and use Clarity, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase in a limited way. Clarity sends no custom events and no content. Only Firebase’s automatic app events are recorded:

• First open (the first time Clarity is opened after install), session start, engagement time, and app updates.
• A random app-instance ID that Firebase creates for each installation. It is not linked to your name, email, Apple Account or any other identity.
• Basic device information: device model, iOS version, Clarity version and language.
• Your approximate country or region, which Google derives from a masked IP address. Clarity does not use your device’s location services.

What is never sent: audio, captions, transcripts, summaries, speaker names, frequent chat partner names, photos, or anything you say or type. Clarity does not use advertising identifiers (IDFA or IDFV), does not show ads, does not use Analytics for advertising, and does not track you across apps or websites. Advertising-related consent is denied in the app.

This data is processed by Google LLC on our behalf, under the Firebase data processing terms and Google’s privacy policy. We use it only as aggregate counts (for example, installs per week). Google keeps it for no longer than 14 months, then deletes it automatically.

Turn it off any time: Clarity → Settings → Share install statistics. When off, nothing is sent.

Information we collect

Apart from the install statistics above, we do not collect personal information through Clarity. Clarity has no accounts and no advertising. If we ever change what Clarity collects, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details before that version is released.

Feedback emails

If you use Settings → Send feedback or email us, we receive your message, your email address, and the app version, iPhone model and iOS version that the draft includes (you can delete them before sending). We use these only to reply and to improve Clarity, and we never ask for your conversations. The email is sent from your own email app, and Clarity attaches nothing else.

Settings and preferences

Your choices — such as text size, reading speed, frequent chat partner names and your welcome photo — are stored only on your iPhone.

Deleting your data

• Delete any saved conversation from its page in Clarity (Saved → conversation → Delete).
• Remove the AI models in Settings → Speech models / Summary model.
• Deleting the Clarity app removes all of its data from your iPhone. Copies in your existing device backups are managed by Apple and expire according to your backup settings.

Your rights

Because install statistics are not linked to your identity, we cannot look up or export data for a specific person. You can stop it at any time with the Settings switch, and existing statistics are deleted automatically within 14 months. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA) you may have rights to access, delete or object to processing; contact us and we will help.

Children

Clarity is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or on this page.
